The 2005-2015 Mustang
The fifth-generation Ford Mustang (S197) is a pony car that was manufactured by Ford from 2004 to 2014, at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. The fifth generation began with the 2005 model year, and received a facelift for the 2010 model year. There have been several variants of the fifth-generation Ford Mustang that include the Mustang GT/California Special, Shelby Mustang, Bullitt Mustang, and Boss 302 Mustang The Mustang GT featured an all-aluminum 4.6 L 3-valve SOHC Modular V8 with variable camshaft timing and a more rugged Tremec TR-3650 transmission. The engine produces 300 hp (224 kW) at 5750 rpm and 320 lb·ft (433 N·m) of torque at 4500 rpm The 2006 Shelby GT-H and later Shelby GT were based on the standard GT model, but modified by Carroll Shelby Automobiles to produce 319 hp (238 kW) by means of a Ford Racing air intake, performance tune, and upgraded exhaust system.[2 While there is much more to be said about these 5th generation mustangs, no one can deny that these high horsepower vehicles with superior handling, have rekindled the muscle car love of a bygone time. Those who have lived through that era as well as a younger generation are embracing these new designs the likes of which has not been seen since the 1960s.
