1994 - 2004
1994 - 2004
Ford introduced the 4th generation Mustang with the 1994 model. This Mustang and those that followed through 2004 were built on what is called the SN-95 platform. 1994 marked the 30th anniversary of the Mustang. During this time period many notable Mustangs were produced. The 1994 Indy 500 race saw a Cobra Mustang used for the pace car. This was the 3rd time a Mustang paced the race. With the 1996 model year the now famous 4.6 L modular motor was introduced. Horsepower was really becoming the rage and the Cobra had 305 ponies under the hood. The “Bullitt” Mustang became a real production car from Ford in 2001, being introduced with a lot of anticipation. In 2002 Mustang found itself as the only pony car produced as other manufacturers dropped their pony car lines. The final 2 years of production yielded some high-performance Mustangs with the Mach 1 being reintroduced, shaker hood and all. The SVT Cobra was now packing an understated 390 hp and was dubbed the “Terminator” by Ford engineers.
